Cedar Park Texas
Professional sports, verdant parks, and chef-driven cuisine in Austin’s backyard
A Park-Lover’s Dream
From dog parks and playgrounds to sprawling vistas and cave preserves, Cedar Park’s spectacular parks are central to its identity. Veterans Memorial Park, one of the city’s most popular outdoor destinations, features basketball and tennis courts, a community garden, paved trails, a 790-square-meter outdoor aquatic center, and the Pathway of Heroes, where statues of war veterans line the walkway. Another must-visit attraction is the Cedar Park Sculpture Garden. Walk its paved trails and check out a rotating collection of colorful and interesting art pieces (many of which are for sale). And that’s just scratching the surface: Cedar Park’s Parks & Recreation Department maintains over 400 hectares of parkland, dozens of lakes and ponds, and a few eerily beautiful limestone caves you can explore.
Get Sporty
The Cedar Park area hosts three professional sports teams: The National Basketball Association’s G League Austin Spurs, the American Hockey League’s Texas Stars, and the LoVB Austin women’s volleyball team. Much of the area’s sports action takes place at the state-of-the-art H-E-B Center, but you can catch Texas State University games and some LoVB Austin matches at Strahan Arena. When you’ve had your fill of spectating, work up a sweat of your own at The Crossover sports and events center. The giant wellness complex features pickleball courts, a hockey and ice skating rink, soccer fields, sand volleyball courts, multiple dining options and more.
Eat, Drink, and Be Merry
The state of Texas is a foodie paradise, and Cedar Park is no exception. In addition to laidback brewpubs and beer gardens, you’ll find mouthwatering barbecue, delicious Tex-Mex fare and soulful flavors around every corner. Stop by Spare Birdie for East Coast oysters, flatbread pizza and short rib quesadillas. Grab an ice cold local beer at The Good Lot, a casual beer garden with outdoor seating, live music, yard games and rotating food trucks. Cedar Park has 13 hotels – make one your home base and head out to enjoy a night at Haute Spot, an indoor-outdoor live music venue beloved by locals and visitors alike.
All Aboard for Adventure
It doesn’t get much better than exploring the picturesque Texas Hill Country by train. Head to Cedar Park Depot to board a vintage locomotive for a leisurely ride with views of the South San Gabriel River and Short Creek Canyon. For more local fun, check out some of the area’s other attractions and annual events, including the Cedar Park Rodeo, Greater Austin Comic Con, Taste of Cedar Park and the Live at Lakeline Concert Series.
Fun Fact

Cedar Park has 47 parks, ranging from lakeside trails to skate parks, dog parks and more.

Cedar Park was named for the abundance of mountain cedar trees that grow there. These trees aren’t native to the area, but are believed to have been tracked in by livestock drives that moved through Texas in the 1800s.

The massive live oak tree in Heritage Oak Park, which stands 15 meters tall and over 24 meters across, is believed to be over 400 years old.
