Eat, drink and be merry in Oregon's most fertile region.

Pastoral views and fertile soil make Mt. Hood Territory an agricultural tourist’s playground. Follow these farm loops for a fresh itinerary.

Day 1: Molalla County Farm Loop

View massive elk and a petting zoo at Rosse Posse Acres Elk Farm. Meet the alpacas of Marquam Hill Ranch. At Out in the Garden Nursery, friendly goats and extensive display gardens will vie for your attention. Into gardening? Visit Meadow of Lavender to cut your own fragrant bouquet. To pick your own strawberries, raspberries and peaches, visit Albeke Farms. In between, sip wine on Alexeli Vineyard & Winery’s patio. For dinner, a Field and Vine Dinner in the Field event is a must. Tour pristine farmland with a glass of wine in hand before a six-course dinner featuring local, farm-grown produce and wine.

Day 2: Canby Farm Loop

Make it an active day by strolling 16 hectares of blooming flowers at Swan Island Dahlia Farm (late summer through early fall). Or walk the nature trails at Fir Point Farms — then nab one of the farm’s homemade cinnamon rolls.

Ready for wine-tasting? Visit Christopher Bridge Cellars to sample award-winning wines and Villa Catalana Cellars, where tastings take place in a lush conservatory. Enjoy local wines with a meal and handmade confections at Puddin’ River Chocolates and Wine Bar. For local beer or cider, hop between Oregon City’s many breweries.

On the Canby Farm Loop, fields of blooming flowers color the drive between farms, wineries and breweries.

Day 3: Farmlandia Farm Loop

Devote today to discovering delicious, hyper-local foods. Start with a from-scratch, organic breakfast at Bob’s Red Mill, a maker of whole-grain products. (Tour the working mill nearby.) Enroll in a class at The Kitchen at Middleground Farms, a recreational cooking school tucked inside the refashioned cattle barn of a family farm. Visit family-owned Ribera Vineyards for a taste of small-batch, organic wines, and end with dinner sampling from the Happy Valley Station food cart pod, open daily and offering 30 vendors surrounding a pavilion with indoor seating.

Day 4: Mount Hood

Work these Mount Hood “classics” into the final day of your culinary adventure: Share a family-style breakfast at rustic Tollgate Inn, where scratch-made bakery goods shine. Savor a meal in historic Timberline Lodge’s Cascade Dining Room, hewn from old-growth timber and situated thousands of feet up Mount Hood. (Gaze out over majestic Cascade Mountain peaks as the chef works magic with local ingredients such as fresh-picked huckleberries.) Toast to your adventure at Mt. Hood Brewing Company, a family-friendly restaurant and bar that crafts small-batch beer.

Timberline Lodge’s Cascade Dining Room, hewn from old-growth timber and situated thousands of feet up Mount Hood, is a feast for all of the senses. The menu features local ingredients including juicy huckleberries.
