Wander down the cobblestone streets of Old Port in Portland and enjoy the fishing piers, quaint 19th-century architecture and boutique shopping. Old Port offers a great window into Portland's history, and not to mention an incredible food scene. If you’re in the mood for a cold beer to go with your lobster roll head to one of Portland's microbreweries, many of which offer free brewery tours. If you’re interested in a shopping excursion Freeport is the place to go! Located on the shores of Casco Bay, Freeport is well-known for its local shops and outlets such as the L.L. Bean flagship store. The Instagram photo opportunity in front of the 4.8-meter tall L.L. Bean Boot is worth the visit alone! In addition to the shopping, freeport offers delicious local cuisine, as well as a variety of outdoor activities that people of all ages will enjoy. If you’re feeling adventurous, hop in the car and take a short drive to Wolfe's Neck State Park where you can hike, picnic and explore Maine’s scenic rocky coast.
While in Maine we highly recommend checking out some of the historic lighthouses, part of the seafaring history and culture. You can enjoy the lighthouse tours on the water, by foot, and even in the comfort of your own car. However you choose to visit, you’ll be able to experience some of the most beautiful lighthouses in the U.S., including Nubble Light and Portland Head Light.
