Official Travel Information
As you may have heard, as of midnight of December 21, 2018 some operations of the United States federal government will be limited until a funding compromise can be reached.
However, the United States is open for business and ready to welcome visitors from around the world. Please note:
- Applications for visas and entry into the United States will go largely uninterrupted.
- Many of our national parks, wildlife refuges, monuments, and other attractions will be open to visitors.
- During this time, staffing at public lands will be lighter than usual and facilities like visitors centers, concessions stands, and bathrooms will not be open.
- Public museums, like the Smithsonian Institution and National Archives will not be open, however, there are thousands of amazing private museums that will remain open to the public.
