Situated on a sun-drenched peninsula separating the Gulf of Mexico from Tampa Bay, St. Pete/Clearwater is the most popular destination on the Gulf of Mexico with 56 kilometers of white-sand beaches. Affirming the area’s growing reputation as a top international destination, The New York Times recently listed St. Pete in its ranking of Top 52 Best Places to Visit, in the company of the world’s most “vibrant cities and spectacular coastlines, unexpected sports and new attractions.” Big reasons why are the unique Dali Museum, home to the largest collection of Spanish surrealist Salvador Dali’s works outside of Spain, and iconic glassblower Dale Chihuly’s permanent collection – both located in the heart of downtown St. Pete along Tampa Bay.

St. Pete/Clearwater consistently garners more recognition than any other Florida destination on TripAdvisor's Traveler's Choice Awards of Top 25 U.S. Beaches. Three area beaches made the coveted list, which is determined by more than 25 million TripAdvisor user reviews. Often making the honored list are local favorites St. Pete Beach – TripAdvisor's No. 1 Beach in 2012 – in addition to Dunedin’s Caladesi Island State Park and world-famous Clearwater Beach.

Along with accolades, St. Pete/Clearwater is enjoying an unprecedented craft beer boom, with 18 craft breweries, the most in the entire state of Florida – from the oldest in Dunedin to the smallest microbrewery on Treasure Island, the R Bar. Brew masters at 7venth Sun Brewery, one of Florida’s newest breweries, are adding their own twist to their beer – fermenting it with fresh Florida fruit. Adding the fruit cuts down on the tartness of a typical Berliner Weisse style beer, which is a sour wheat beer originating from Germany. Local enthusiasts have coined the tart and tasty beer as “Florida Weisse.”
