Visit the Seminole Tribe of Florida

Culture, History, Adventure! Che Hun Ta Mo (Hello), you’re invited to experience the real Native Florida, learn about history at the Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum, witness culture at tribal events and Seminole Okalee Indian Village, and have a fun family adventure at Billie Swamp Safari. Stay awhile at the Big Cypress RV Park & Campground.

Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum

In the Seminole language, Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki means “a place to learn” and the museum is home to more than 30,000 unique artifacts and archival items. Here, you’ll learn about the Seminole people, their history and culture. On arrival the film “We Seminoles” tells their story in the words of the Tribe, including the dramatic struggle to remain in Florida. The Museum’s exhibits and galleries showcase rare artifacts and life-sized depictions of traditional practices. Beyond the galleries lies a mile-long boardwalk leading to Living Village wherein Seminoles create and sell world-renowned beadwork, basketry, woodcarvings and patchwork.

Billie Swamp Safari

Explore 2,200 acres of untamed Florida Everglades and nature at Billie Swamp Safari. Glide effortlessly aboard an airboat through cypress domes, and see animals in their natural environment: alligators, turtles, fish, birds and raccoons to name a few. Splash through the wetlands on the swamp buggy eco tour viewing native and exotic wildlife such as bison, water buffalo, wild pigs and ostriches. Watch the entertaining and educational Venomous Snake Show and Swamp Critter Show daily. Adjacent to the Swamp Water Café, find an authentic Seminole village on the swamp’s edge and the new alligator Oasis with stadium seating. Overnight accommodations are available in dorm chickees for groups and waterfront chickees for two. Night excursions are also available via swamp buggy rides and fireside Native storytelling.

Big Cypress RV Resort and Campground

Nestled in the tranquil and scenic Florida Everglades, the Big Cypress RV Resort is located on the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation. Owned and operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, the full-service resort offers visitors both grassy and paved RV sites with full hookups, tents and air-conditioned cabins.

Enjoy the wonders of the Florida Everglades while relaxing under an authentic chickee hut. You can take advantage of nearby attractions including Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum, Big Cypress Rodeo Grounds and Billie Swamp Safari.

Seminole Okalee Indian Village

(Okalee is currently closed for a Grand Reopening at a new location)

Experience up close Florida panthers, black bears, macaws and river otters. Catch a glimpse of the Seminole way of life in this traditional village, where various aspects of living, cooking, woodwork and doll making are demonstrated in a natural setting. Enjoy a self-guided tour or schedule a guided tour. A Wildlife Night Show and a Deep Water Alligator Wrestling Show take place every Saturday at 8 p.m featuring big cats, birds of prey, snakes and crocodiles. Visit the authentic Seminole Arts & Crafts Gift Shop, where you can purchase handmade items such as jewelry, clothing, woodwork and Seminole baskets and dolls.

There are many exciting things to see and learn about the Seminole Indians – the original Florida Natives. You'll definitely want to come back for more.
