From his earliest experiences in his mother’s California kitchen, surrounded by an extended Italian family of butchers, cheese makers and ranchers, Michael Chiarello dreamed of becoming a chef. Today, he’s an award‐winning chef and owner of critically acclaimed Bottega in the Napa Valley and Coqueta in San Francisco, as well as a best-selling author and national TV host. In 1999, he launched Chiarello Family Vineyards, creating small-production wines. Named Esquire magazine’s Chef of the Year in 2013, Chiarello has made his mark by combining his Southern Italian roots with the distinctive hallmarks of Napa Valley living.
