Be surprised by the skyline, sports and style

With a cityscape overlooking the mighty Ohio River, Cincinnati is a strikingly pretty metropolis where visitors are never wanting for something hearty to eat, classy museums to visit and exciting sports events and festivals to go wild over. Dominated by the breathtaking Roebling Suspension Bridge, “Cincy” radiates north from the waterfront and encompasses stylish neighborhoods, urban green spaces, a prominent university and all-things German.

Waterfront Attractions

Many of Cincinnati’s most beloved attractions sit on the waterfront overlooking neighboring Kentucky. On either side of the Roebling Bridge are the city’s two biggest sports stadiums: The Great American Ball Park – home of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team and the Hall of Fame museum – and Paul Brown Stadium, home of the Bengals football team. Catch a game if you’re visiting during season. To the east, find the Art Deco-style Krohn Conservatory; to the west is Coney Island Amusement Park. At the bridge’s end is the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, one of the best museums of its kind. A fun way to tour the riverfront’s parks and attractions is via a Segway tour, riverboat cruise or canoe excursion.

Cultural Pursuits

Peek back in time at the Harriet Beecher Stowe House, where the anti-slavery author lived from 1832 to 1852. See the birthplace of William Howard Taft, the 27th President of the USA. Marvel at the Bavarian-style Old St. Mary’s Church, built by German immigrants in 1842, whose influence can also be seen in neighborhoods like Over-the-Rhine. Take the kids to the Children’s Museum at the Cincinnati Museum Center or to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, which features 580 animal species and 3,000 plant varieties. Head to the Taft Museum of Art, the Cincinnati Art Museum, or the Contemporary Arts Center. The city also offers a professional ballet company and symphony orchestra, if you’re looking for nightlife ideas.

Unique Cuisines

Though visitors can find an international array of cuisines here, Cincy is especially fond of its local favorites: Cincinnati chili, goetta (meat and grain sausage also known as “Cincinnati Caviar”) and Graeter’s ice cream. To find the best chili parlor, you’ll have to nosh your way through 180 eateries that offer it. Oktoberfest is a must-attend event where the city’s German heritage is celebrated with weeks of beer, bratwurst, dancing and the Running of the Wieners!
